I've not posted much on my own site lately. Why? Twelve, that's why. I've been spending most of my time working and promoting the project so personal work for my site has been neglected somewhat. Not that that is a negative thing, far from it. The project is well and truly established now and on the 30th of this month we'll be sharing some pretty exciting news.
I've not stopped shooting though, but it's been more sporadic than structured as I search for that one shot, which I will use for the twelve project.....I've yet to find it.
This style of shooting suits me to be honest at times though. Rather than going out with a specific idea in my head, I just keep my eyes open, observe and wait to fire the shutter. I'll stop the car if I'm driving......!
I've been travelling a lot with work lately, but some of the best light I've seen is the morning winter light on my way to the office. Like I said, observation.....and stop if necessary.
One of my work trips took me to Sweden. We stayed just outside Gnesta at a place called Södertuna Castle. It dates back to the 14th century and is now a popular place for conferences and romantic breaks. It sits by the lake of Frösjön, which provides plenty of photographic opportunities, if work didn't get in that way...! Daylight at this time of year in Sweden is in short supply and limited to office hours. The small window I had seemed perfect for Tri-X.
Then there's the woods, near home. Often dull unless the light is right, which of late hasn't been too often. But, when it hits through the trees, it can be a treat. The key, as ever, be prepared......
There's a lot to think about over the next few weeks. Twelve will work its way around the UK until it lands with me at shot number eight. It'll then send it off to Ireland, before it concludes in the USA. Watch out for some big news on the 30th though.
